King and Church streets intersection construction
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), in collaboration with the City of Toronto, will start major construction at the intersection of King and Church streets, starting as early as May 11, 2025, until approximately early September. The City of Toronto will replace an aging watermain and the TTC will replace aging streetcar tracks at the same time.
Four streetcar routes will divert around the area of King and Church streets, with 504C/504D King replacement buses operating. Important note: 504 King streetcars will not operate as 504A and 504B branch and will operate between Broadview Station and Dundas West Station only as one branch.
503 Kingston Road streetcars will now extend to Dufferin Gate Loop via King and Dufferin streets, instead of ending at its usual end point of King Street and Spadina Avenue. As an alternative, customers can use 29/929 Dufferin buses from Dufferin Gate Loop to King Street West to connect with 504 King or 508 Lake Shore streetcars.
Customers travelling on King Street between Spadina Avenue and River Street have two options.
Option 1: Remain on the streetcar.
Westbound streetcars will divert from Queen Street East, south on Church Street, west on Richmond Street, north on York Street, west on Queen Street West and south on Spadina Avenue.
Eastbound streetcars will divert along Spadina Avenue, north to Queen Street West, east to York Street, south to Adelaide Street, east to Church Street and north to Queen Street East.
Option 2: Board a 504C or 504D King replacement bus.
504C and 504D replacement buses will operate between King Street between Spadina Avenue and River Street.
